Dear Friends…

My husband Dave and I both deal with hearing loss, but our loss is not the same. Dave cannot hear high pitched sounds and I struggle with the low sounds.  I’ll ask him “Did you hear that bird?” or he’ll say to me, “Did you hear that pounding?”. With our “unaided ears” the answer is always no.

This offers a fitting analogy for the time in which we live. We might be in the same community, even the same church, but we don’t all hear things, or see things, the same. We need each other, for it is only together that we make up the body of Christ.

As one way of allowing all voices to be heard, two “listening posts” will be offered the first week of May; Wednesday, May 5th at 10am and Thursday, May 6th at 6pm. This will be a time for interested persons to gather in Miller Parlor to speak freely about their hopes for the ministry of Stone Church, where they sense God’s call is leading us. This won’t be a time of debate but rather one of grace filled listening.

If you are one who would like a conversation by zoom, over the phone or individually, please let me know. My great hope is that all voices might be heard and acknowledged.

In speaking about the body of Christ, the Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 12: 12,13, “For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body-Jews or Greeks, slaves or free-and we were all made to drink of one Spirit”.

In the name of the one Spirit that unites us all...Pastor Sarah
