* Opening Hymn – “Ask Ye What Great Thing I Know” #278
*Opening Prayer
God our strength, you waken us morning by morning with your gracious word: Help us to stand together against the enemies of life and offer your mercy to the weary, in the name of Jesus who did not hide his face but stood firm before death to save the world. Amen.
Call to Confession
The Lord has need of us. The Lord asks us to come to the mercy seat, bringing our wounded hearts and our anguish, to lay our burdens before God that we may arise in wholeness and joy to follow Christ. Let us confess our sins.
Prayer of Confession
Save us, O God, for we are surrounded by danger and we live in death’s shadow. Forgive us when we fail to stand with the suffering, when fear causes us to close our eyes to wrongdoing, when weakness makes us turn back from following you. Lift us up to the hope and healing of the cross; make us bearers of the love of Jesus, poured out for the world. In his name. Amen.
Words of Assurance
It is the Lord God who helps us; who will declare us guilty? Giving thanks that God has answered us and become our salvation. Amen.

Acts of Praise “At the Name of Jesus, Every Knee Shall Bow”
Based Philippians 2:5-11 (Women read light print; men read bold.)
Women: Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,
Men: but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in our likeness.
Women: And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death even death on a cross.
Men: Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name,
Women: that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
Men: and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Scripture- Matthew 21:1-11, Luke 22:39-46 - Luke 23:44-46
Pastor: The Word of God for the people of God.
People: Thanks be to God
Series: Season of Ash and Fire

*Closing Hymn – “Alas! And Did My Savior Bleed” #294
Let this mind be in us that was in Christ Jesus, who became a servant that we might be free, humbling himself to death on the cross for the salvation of the world. Amen.
