What is UMCOR?

UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is a ministry of The United Methodist Church through the General Board of Global Ministries. UMCOR’s goal is to assist the most vulnerable people affected by crisis or chronic need without regard to their race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation believing all people have God-given worth and dignity.

UMCOR’s operations are transparent. Donors and partners deserve to be in the loop. 100% of all donations go to the advance selected during donation with administration costs are offset by UMCOR Sunday (formerly One Great Hour of Sharing). UMCOR’s recent financial information can be found online at www.umcor.org, and older records are available upon request. UMCOR has a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest and most-used independent evaluator of charities.  

UMCOR COVID-19 Local Response Right in our own backyard Erie United Methodist Alliance (EUMA) has provided additional support to those experiencing a housing crisis and the effects of COVID-19 as well. Thanks to the generous support of people like you, EUMA provided what is called EUMA CARES Buckets. In partnership with Park UMC and UMCOR’s relief supply partner located at the Eastbrook Mission Barn, EUMA distributed nearly 200 “flood buckets.”

Containing cleaning/disinfectant supplies, masks, gloves, sponges and other cleaning supplies, EUMA is distributing them to households most at risk, the majority distributed to persons of color who are disproportionately both at greater risk of contracting COVID-19 and suffering negative health consequences.  

UMCOR National Response In every community where a fire rages or a storm ravages persons and property, UMCOR relief workers are there providing both short and long term support.  How can you help?
