 \n\nOpen to all districts! An opportunity for Lay Servant Ministries (LSM
 ) courses is available this fall in the Northern District on five consecu
 tive Sundays (October 4th to November 1st)\, from 2 PM to 4 PM\, at Edinbo
 ro UMC (113 High Street\, Edinboro\, PA 16412). Course offerings include:\
 n\nCalled to Preach: This course is designed for those who have not comple
 ted formal preaching training\, for pastors seeking a basic refresher cour
 se\, and for others who are called upon to preach in a pastor's absence. L
 ed by Pastor Terry Brown\, senior pastor of Wattsburg and Phillipsville UM
 Cs.\nExploring a Culture of Care for a Caring Congregation: This course eq
 uips participants with tools for deep listening and grows their capacity t
 o care in difficult situations of loss - all within healthy boundaries and
  a thoughtful awareness of the varying cultural contexts of caring ministr
 y. Led by John Layden\, a certified lay speaker and lay leader of Edinboro
  UMC.\nSacraments: Means of Grace: This course combines Rev. Beth Galbreat
 h's unique focus in the online Be A Disciple courses on Baptism and Holy
  Communion with the key insights of two books: By Water and the Spirit a
 nd This Holy Mystery\, both by the late Gayle Carlton Felton. Led by Past
 or Karen Trask\, senior pastor of Erie: Lawrence Park UMC.\nWhile the Worl
 d Watched: Using Carolyn Maull McKinstry's memoir recounting her survival
  of the 1963 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham\, Alabama\,
  and her coming of age during the Civil Rights movement\, this study focu
 ses on how far we've come and how far we have yet to go in our anti-racism
  work. Led by Patti Johns\, a certified lay servant and member of the form
 er Erie-Meadville District Anti-Racism Team.\n\nRegistration closes Sunday
